Hearst Castle

This past weekend I took a trip to Hearst Castle with a few friends. I'm ashamed to say that I have lived in California my whole life and have never been to this amazing place. To my disappointment it really isn't a castle but rather a very large house or estate if you will. Hearst Castle is located on the Central Coast of California with views that seem to go on forever. Luckily, the clouds stayed away and we were able to see the spectacular horizon. William Randolph Hurst hired Julia Morgan, one of the first female architects, and together they built the famed castle. It took 28 years to complete and let me just say it was well worth the wait.

Retro Superhero Party

My good friend Maryam, over at Milk-Friendly, came up with the super fun idea of having a superhero birthday party for her son with a twist of vintage. I love the pop art and bright colors that the Lichtenstein design brings, so of course I was on board to help! I remember watching the reruns of the classic 60s Batman as a child, with the Ka-pows and Ker-plops, Batman would save the day and all would be right again with the world. Any-who... here's a taste of inspiration.

I absolutely love the phone booth idea! Pictures courtesy of HWTM. Stay tuned for the pictures from the party.
